i'm just so curious about where this is going... i feel like whatever 'twists' are going to happen in the last 100 or so pages of this book are going to be silly...


10 points for the inclusion of a nonbinary character. it was a delightful surprise.

if the twist is something like that the sister isn't really sick, or that the stalker is the sister/mom and/or lee, i'm gonna be disappointed in this book. i know the ending is goofy... i do like the whole loneliness and desperation things going on, and i can tell this isn't as serious as it could be and that is okay...

matt dinniman is cooking... the unfortunate part is that i'm really gonna have to read all 8 books to really get to the nitty gritty good stuff, huh

hundred pages in and i get it. this is a book unlike anything i have ever read before. i am itching for a little more plot to happen, to get into the higher ups of this whole thing but i can feel myself being invested.

the most disappointing thing so far is realizing im gonna have to buy all 7 books.

nearing the end... just like the first time i don't want it to yet. been taking my time with this one and really enjoying it but dam... i already miss reading it

Ellen, i know what it's like. ellen i think i understand you more than anything else. this is the part of the book where i begin to get ripped apart piece by piece.

there is something so incredibly real about this book, despite how far away it feels to read about NY Gilded Age. Reminds me of this quote:

"You read something which you though only happened to you, and you discover that it happened 100 years ago to Dostoyevsky. This is a very great liberation for the suffering, struggling person, who always thinks that he is alone. This is why art is important."

been reading so much that i feel a slump coming on... attempting to alleivate it by reading some of my 'greats'. this book does something to me...

reading this so i can gift it to a friend later on - i think i understand some of the concepts, though i know most of it is going over my head, which makes me take notes while i'm reading.

it also gives me extreme anxiety which has me hoping that i will finish this book quick

it kind of kills me that it took so long for Leah to even think of Miri while she was on her expedition... I want to believe that it is not the case but i do fear that it is...

abt halfway through and my fears of what was insinuated at the beginning of this book was correct. i do hope that this gives me some kind of insight... i don't exactly need to read the perspective of a dysfunctional family, as i have enough experience to know what goes on, but seeing some of these topics are rarely talked about, i'm curious of how Rubens confronts them...
