So far only got through the foreword (or foreweird, as they call it here), introduction, and the first story, but I am looking forward to the rest. The stories are in chronological order of first printing (and not first printing in *English*), with the purpose of observing the evolution of weird fiction across the world. I’m not quite sure I “got” the first story, but I can say it was weird

Obvi the change from first person pov to third person limited from Annihilation to this book took a mo’ to adjust, but there is an easy quality to the prose in Authority that keeps me reading. So far the story may have been focusing more on the protagonist than any actual plot, but I don’t particularly mind since the character backstory does seem relevant to the general narrative

Hm. Well the stories kinda feel like they’ve gone down in quality slightly. Not enough for me to DNF but we’ll see

Lmao just read the back cover and this is a YA anthology. Still, so far the stories are good and the writing is varied and quality, which means so far I’m enjoying myself

Story two holds up just as well as story one. As far as editors go Kelly Link and Gavin J Grant have done well so far (RF Kuang, eat your heart out). Please please please God let the rest of this anthology be good PLEASE

First story starting off strong, so let’s hope it continues
