Mercy. This is one of those books where I keep yelling at the characters, "Don't do that!" Not that it does any good.

There's a reason why I read a lot of comedy. This book is STRESSING ME OUT. For heaven's sake there's a freakin' Nazi living in the house and Isabelle's face has subtitles. It's going to take me forever to read this. Pretty much had to put it in the freezer like Joey had to put Little Women in the freezer on Friends. I'll get there. Eventually.

I have already laughed out loud several times. I do so love Bowman's sense of humor. Bonus points for the goat and the pug.

Whew. There's steam coming off the Kindle even though these two are refusing to give in to the sexy times.

This book is forever long. I am learning that some of the things Paul supposedly said? Paul didn't say them. Apparently in ancient times there was a custom of using someone else's name out of admiration. I don't appreciate this imposter Paul with his Greco-Roman house codes and what not.

We'll see. This looks like it could be helpful. Of course, reading the book and implementing the strategy are two different things.

Whew. Ellery and Daphne are just. . . having trouble. I'm rooting for them, though.

Things just got real since Ellery showed up after Daphne did a thing. Here's hoping I get back to this one later today.

The chapter on why are kids are so angry really, really spoke to me because 1) I have teenaged children who are not here for this country's bigotry and 2) I used to teach high school. I know I was too authoritarian as a teacher because that's what I knew. Lord, I hope I didn't damage any of my students. Goodness knows I was too young to understand exactly how important my work really was.

While Bell has some good points, the style of the book is still that of a sermon that is very, very sure of itself. I've always been more of a fan of those sermons that give you food for thought rather than those that tell you exactly what to do, and, make no mistake, this book is written in the style of a sermon. I guess I'm saying I'm not confident that Bell has ALL the answers, but he has at least some.

I'll have a longer review later, but Oluo's writing is both crisp and bursting with heart. So far, I believe that this book should be required reading--for every white person especially.

THEN, he mentions psychic Sylvia Browne and how she has a bad habit of telling parents that their loved ones are dead when then aren't. Well, I just finished the book about Michelle Knight, Gina DeJesus, and Amanda Berry. Berry's mother is one of the parents Browne told that her child was dead. She wasn't.

Fun story: I've had a serendipity moment with this book. First, Dickey mentions the Winchester Mystery House, and I've quite recently read about how the attraction makes up all sorts of stuff about Sallie Winchester.

Y'all, this book. First of all, it's been translated into English, and Kondo's use of the word "rebound" amuses me greatly. Also, if it bugs you that she would scold you for putting your socks into a ball instead of folding them so they can rest, then this book is not for you. Honestly, I'm learning a few things, but she's a bit of an extremist, ya know?
