Nope. I'm only 7 pages in and this is reading too much like a procedural or police drama. Not my style at all. Such sucks because I was looking forward to it. :(

Drew gave me a tip and I took it. I'm only reading the main story... not following Johnny's nuttiness or any of the annoying footnotes, and I'm managing through it a little better : )

Listening to this on audio. This is no Blake Butler I've read... he recreates himself with every book.

I've got about a quarter left to go (I think?) and omg this old lady is driving me nuts. And I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. But the narration is stellar!

It is bizarrely similar to DRIVE YOUR PLOW OVER THEIR BONES. Like mirror mirror on the wall who is the craziest of them all similar.

Not sure how I feel about that.

Reading this on the Kindle is killing me. I like the story but it's harder for me to gauge progress. It FEELS like I am reading through it quickly each time I sit down with it but because the dang thing is over 500 pages long, my Kindle taunts me by barely budging my % complete. le sigh.

Though the book starts out slow, building the setting and characters, the second half of the book is flying by.

As politically ignorant as I am, I give compliments to Kathleen for writing a book about politics that I can follow.

Listening to the audio and completely lost as fuck. There's some scalping, there was a snakebit horse I felt horrible for, and some homemade urine gunpowder. But as for everything else up to this point????
