“If am going to be afraid, I might as well do it honest. Arm in arm with everyone I love, adorned in blood and bruises, singing jokes on our way to the grave.”

get that scar on your shoulder?””Oh,
a boy I barely knew was sad once.”

There are some of us who, when experiencing a tragedy or comedy in our lives, we think: ‘how will this be told to another? Can it be told? How can we possibly begin the story of what has happened to us?’

Hope is the soft bird
We send across the sea
To see if this earth is still home.

This book really started strong with Antonia's backstory and all the great details about her music, but as soon as the dude showed up and then left again the story momentum just fizzled. I'm way more interested in the Lillys and their dynamic, plus how Antonia's going to fit into that and really can't be bothered with 'Seb' and his limp presence. Really struggling to finish after a strong start. Should I bother?

I picked this up to read just a page or two and just kept going. Propulsive.

Anxiety is a living body
Poised beside us like a shadow.
It is the last creature standing,,
The only beast who loves us
Enough to stay.
