I got disinterested and the loan expired but I’ll circle back — lots of good short stories on afrofuturism.

I ran out of library time and took the short stories one at a time, so I lost this book. Will circle back.

I am currently enjoying this book, but have found several mistakes that should’ve been caught in editing. In just one or two pages, he used the word huge about four times, and I just came across the time when he messed up his pronouns.

Currently reading 4 different novels because none of them are completely pulling me in. 😵‍💫

Have decided to give up on The Midnight Library and remove it from my shelves. Poor language choices. Predictable plot. Uninteresting. I thought the first chapter or so had promise. Once she got into her first could have been, I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes.

Neither the writing or the plot is very strong. No desire to keep going.

I was on the fence at first, but the command of language kept me invested. After a few chapters of being unsure, maybe about a third through, I started to get more riveted on the story. I did not know about the historical injustices that this story is based on. It tears me apart. The novel is certainly a strong tool for imagining the tragedies thrust on the Chagossians.

Horrible writing.

Extremely violent and graphic. Was not enjoying that. Giving up on it — not sure why I would continue.

Riveting and heartbreaking.

Giving up. Hard no. Was very annoyed by the writing. It’s pretentious and the writing is not at ease at all.

Ahhhh much better than the last book I was reading. The writing is much more at ease.
