Being in the final stages of editing, I can say that Loose Cannons is now a novella, rather than a short. I don't suspect it should cause the Order Universe readers much distress, though... :-D

My hand shot up to stop him. “No,” I growled. “Don’t move. Stay right where you are.”
He arched an eyebrow but did as I asked, freezing with his back affixed to the door. Which happened to be the perfect location for what I had in mind.
Wrong or not, it always stirred me up to have him yield to my demands without knowing the reason for them—only because I said so.

Going back and forth (and doing a little editing for a change):

I’d come to terms with Lochan’s craving for pain. But only as long as it pertained to what we did in the bedroom and if I could curb the lengths he would go to. When he sought physical harm elsewhere to comfort himself—often going overboard—it disturbed and upset me. It felt like a failure on my part.

He lifted his lashes and fixed his gaze on me. It soon grew sultry and very distracting.
I swallowed a groan, completely conscious of his intentions. How many times had I fallen for it, letting him wiggle out of a conversation? I’d be damned before I allowed him to divert my attention on this occasion.
“Lochan, stop it.” I assumed the tone of someone who didn’t fuck around when looking for answers.

An odd shadow crept upon Lochan’s face. He still stood there with his jaw set and mouth closed.
At that point, something snapped inside me. My annoyance had given way to something more potent—something bitter and ugly.

Mixed feelings on his one in comparison to the original...hmmm.

Onto the next volume of Sonny & Ais' masterpiece! Here we are in beloved Monterrey at last! While I seriously missed some bits shaved off from the original in the first part (and had a tantrum over Spain), the second part is just getting better and better! Sexy as hell. I'm loving the added scenes so far!

OK, so far as the changes are concerned I missed the Spain episode and some of Boyd's gloomy musings. However, the Paris bit is much better constructed!
