I’m honestly not sure I’m going to finish this one. The writing is so clunky. It’s just not on the level of Travis Baldree or T.L. Stone. I wish J. Penner had had a better editor, because I think this could be a good book if it were written better.

This book is pretty silly. I was reading it at the gym when it abruptly got VERY spicy. That’s not a problem, but I didn’t want to read it at the gym anymore. :-)

D.N.F. With a vengeance. This book is just so goddamn cutesy. Too clever by half, and it wasn't working for me.

Miranda is finished with The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness
DNF. It's all about screen time, and while he may be right that it's the cause of all the anxiety in the kids, as a non-parent there's not much I can do about it, and I don't want to read 395 pages about it.

I just started. I love love love Shakespeare, but the *constant* quotes are getting tiresome. I will say, these characters annoy me in exactly the way theater kids annoy me … so maybe that’s a point in the book’s favor. Still, not sure I’ll finish.

I’m going to finish it because I’ve gotten this far, but truthfully, it’s not really engaging. I don’t like the characters much.

Miranda is on page 75 of 421 of The Last Devil to Die (Thursday Murder Club, #4)
My father in law just (September 2023) died of Parkinson’s, with dementia. I love this series but one thread throughout is Elizabeth’s husband’s mental decline. I can’t read this right now. Not a DNF, but definitely on pause for now.

It’s honestly a bit of a slog. Paris is … super annoying. I have social anxiety, so I get it, but he’s really, really over the top.

I DNFed this one. I didn’t find it charming or funny. The ways that Matilda takes revenge on her parents are too mean-spirited to be funny, to me. I never read this as a kid, and I don’t think I missed much, though I loved the other Roald Dahl books I read.
