Enjoying the book, for the most part, but I feel like
he’s already explored all this slasher stuff in the Jade Daniels trilogy.

“Cartoon princesses have little birds that flit around them every morning, and whistle sweet nothings to greet the new day? Imagine what a slasher must wake to.” 🔪🪓🪚✂️🗡️💀

“Some people are just good, aren’t they? I wonder what that must be like.”

“NO. THERE IS NO MORE TIME, EVEN FOR CAKE. FOR YOU, THE CAKE IS OVER. YOU HAVE REACHED THE END OF CAKE.” 😂

“It’s an old soldier’s song.”
“Really, sarge? But it’s about angels.”
“As I recall, they used to sing it after battles. I’ve seen old men cry when they sing it.”
“Why? It sounds cheerful.”
“They were remembering who they were not singing it with.” 😕

Oh man. This book is really hitting really close to what’s happening here at home right now. I feel just as angry most of the time as Sam Vimes in this book.

“We didn’t ask. We just shut our minds to it. People went in through the front door and some of the poor devils came out through the secret door, not always in one box.”
