i hate audiobooks

idk why i’m reading this. i don’t remember taking it out, i don’t remember starting it, i don’t remember who recommended it to me

reminds me of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, when Harry really realizes how much he’s been exploited by Dumbledore and Hogwarts, even though they provided him the happiest times of his life.

I find R.F. Kuang intensely impressive as a person, but have never read anything she’s written. So here I am fixing that

If I’m reading a long book, I want to start in childhood. Very pleased by this so far. An interesting, engaging style—Eggers seems to understand that overwhelming the reader with beautiful sentences is actually counterproductive to readability, but he still manages some acrobatic turns of phrase.

okay sorry but no fucking way this out of shape girl who has never run before just ran four miles, ate waffles, and then ran another four miles, keeping relative pace with a girl who runs EVERY DAY.
either ms. burton is not a runner and vastly underestimates its challenge, or this is the most unreliable narrator i have ever read
