2076-01-01 Prologue

1989-04-10 Changing Arenas

2076 ist möglich, für viele Leute, die jetzt und heute leben. Das ist schon irgendwie schräg und lässt einen neugierig werden, was denn für uns noch so passiert. 1989 ist gar nicht so lange her, alles ein vielversprechender Beginn.

Dramatis Personae - 25 Minuten lang.
Das ist sehr sehr nötig!

That night, three hoodlums in conspicuous organic-cotton hoodies met under a lunar lamp on a safe, well-lit street, carrying eco-friendly duffle bags that clinked and clanked all the way there. Without saying a word, the leader leaned in and stretched out her arms, and the brains and the brawns of the operation promptly joined in the huddle.

Evolution turns around and loops back on itself. It spirals and spins about, jumps and burrows and skips and scurries its way in whatever direction it can. In that way, I guess it’s also a lot like a stream in the desert; always seeking a path of least resistance.

It seems evolution isn’t a straight line. It’s not even a curved or a wavy line. It isn’t necessarily leading towards something better, more advanced, or morally superior. Evolution is more like a meandering trail that branches off in countless directions through forest so thick you can’t see more than a few dozen feet ahead.

Und absolut nein, KI ist mit Vorsicht zu genießen. Fotobearbeitung kann man machen, auch irgendwelche lustigen Antworten mit KI generieren lassen, aber das alles kostet - Daten, Ressourcen, und gerade wenn es um eigene Bilder geht.

Selbstdiagnosen sind nur Aufmerksamkeitsforderung? Ich weiß ja nicht in welchem medizinischen System die Autorin lebt, wenn sie glaubt, dass alle Menschen Zugang zu Diagnose haben und diese auch richtig durchgeführt wird.

We are all in the same universe. We are all star stuff, as the man said. Even on worlds circling around other stars. The stuff of those stars is the same.

It could explain how we are both 100 % us, 110 %. Never been „us“ier in our lifes!

There‘s more than the whiff of „them“ as well.
But then the Mandate was all about those neat boxes, those false binaries.

His and hers.
Us and them.

Now that she was older, she understood that there had been other possible lives to live before Finis. Lives without evacuation plans taped to the refrigerator or emergency go-bags stashed in the hall closet. Lives full of plans, for college and houses, children and golden retrievers, retirement and last rites. Those lives had not been lived in the shadow of Finis.

After what happened in the auction house, I had no reason to doubt her ability, but somehow living in a demon realm with demons I had no idea would be able to control themselves enough not to eat me left me feeling less than secure.

CHAPTER 10
Seven minutes later
That was the longest two hours of my life! I need dick. I need big, green, alien dick where the suns don’t shine, and I need it like yesterday.

Holy shit. He’s still smiling. And he’s… still glowing. He’s serious. Shut. The fuck. Up. “Uh…” Frowning, the elated light in his eyes dims and his stars…flicker. I swear they just flickered. Maybe I’ll get lucky and he’s just an android with a circuit loose, rather than some misguided, lust-filled alien.
