I am listening to this book again after having devoured everything I could find by LeGuin when I was a teenager. There is so much here in these stories. I am glad to read her work again.

Binti is an admirable heroine, and has lots of adventures. At times the prose could be a bit more descriptive. After the first couple books the style is kind of hurried, and bluntly described. Still, I greatly admire the character

This book, alongside Barbara Kingsolver’s “Demon Copperhead” describes coming of age in the post-modern era. They both have important things to say about the unfairness and random violence that accompanies the greed of corporations versus common people and how those inequities create evil and violence. It’s good reading, but I recommend a Barbie like chaser to this story. It’s a bitter tale
