Put on hold because I have 2 Interlibrary Loans that will have to be returned before this book.

I'm going to quit reading this book. I simply found it pretty boring. I've read the first 9 of Sharyn McCrumb's Ballad series, and always enjoyed them. This one is just not working for me.

I was listening to the audio. I listened to the first book in this series and I was aware that it was on the adolescent side. But I just couldn't listen to this one. I'm 69 yo and I enjoy some young adult stuff, but not this. I had to quit.

I checked out volumes 1 & 2 from the library at the same time. Less than 75 pages into this volume 2, and my library tells me I can't renew because someone else has a hold on it. Bummer. I guess I just have to wait.

I'm finding the zig-zag timeline difficult to follow.
Chapter 1: Enzo 1935.
Chapter 2: Nick 1917.
Chapter 3: Jenny 1973.
Chapter 4: Enzo 1942.
Chapter 5: Jenny 1973.
Chapter 6: Nick1974.

Wow! Good grief! Who can keep up with that? I have to go back and find all those dates at the beginning of every chapter! The least the author could have done is to have given us an index at the beginning of the book!

I'm going to lay this aside. The author is reading her own book in this audio, and doing a wonderful job! She uses great expression, and a variety of voices and accents for the different characters. But I'm not keeping up with the story somehow. Maybe another time.

I've stalled on this one. I was trying to read it on my phone. My library only has the e-book. I just really like to hold the BOOK in my hands, or to listen to audio. So, I will purchase this book at a later date, so I can read the hard copy.

Was not enjoying this audiobook. Decided to move on to something else.

Not going to finish.

I'm struggling with this one. Not really enjoying the reading. And there are 432 pages! I might set it aside for now. Maybe I'll pick up the audio instead. I think I need something a little different at this point in time.

Stopping here. I am not enjoying this book.
