Okay... I'm very new to the story and the world. But even I know something is off with the crown prince's brother. I bet, just a whim, that the crown prince is innocent and was run out of the kingdom to take the fall. I bet the reason the land hasn't healed is because the second prince is actually the murderer. Like I said, I'm mere pages in. But this feels like a plot twist diversion. We'll see if I'm correct.
