This is a great dupe for classical literature if you want to get used to the prose but don’t want the commitment. I’m a bit disappointed there was literally a Rumpelstiltskin retelling in this, so I’m confused if the author stole that thinking we wouldn’t notice, or if this entire book is supposed to be her unoriginal retellings of stories we already know……

I fear my expectations for this book were astronomically higher than they should have been. I have no one to blame but myself.

I feel like I just had my very first “wow” moment of the book and I’m only halfway through😩 Someone be my accountability buddy lol

Started this last night, it’s an extremely easy read but I don’t know if it’s objectively good… bonus points tho because you could definitely finish in 1 sitting if you start early enough in the day.

I’m regretting choosing to do the audiobook for this one, but we will endure.

I haven’t had a book that consumed my thoughts like this one in such a long time, it’s almost sickening how much I love this💚 I fell asleep reading this and can’t wait to binge finish it after work tonight.

Charlotte McConaghy truly is one of the only authors that I cannot predict. Not once. At every turn, I’m looking the other way at some completely irrelevant detail only to be wrenched away into some unfathomable plot twist.

Respectfully… I am so bored. Please, something happen. Literally anything.

I don’t remember the brothers being such red flags in the first books, but I am not liking them. And the girls are insufferably ditzy… I am enjoying seeing the ties to OUABH come together!

Really good so far, but this is the most brain power I’ve had to use on a book in a long time lol

Charlotte really knows how to get me fired up about the state of our planet and wildlife preservation😤😭

Really enjoying so far; fast-paced and easy to comprehend, but not “fluffy”.

This book feels loosely inspired by “Dune” but I feel like it HEAVILY inspired the entire plot of “Blood Over Bright Haven”… I’m not criticizing BOBH, but since I just finished that book it’s fresh in my mind and it’s almost embarrassing how blatantly similar the political & industrial (a.k.a. “energy”) systems are compared to TWOTM.

This one is heavy on military tactics and strategy. The story is good but definitely getting a bit lost in the weeds on the politics of it all. But this one is also pretty sentimental and sweet, it’s a great balance so far.
