Aliya is reading Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?
It's a good summary of other self-help books and those describing how our brains impact our emotions and general wellbeing. But if you know basics, then it's just a looong repetition of those using simpler terms.

Aliya is reading Humanise: A Maker’s Guide to Building Our World
Such a great book, imho.
For me, a newbie who doesn't claim to understand architecture but feels it on a level of "liked vs didn't like", it was such a pleasurable read: informative, well written, with a clear action call, visually comprehensible.

All in all, if you're curious about why most modern buildings are boringly similar, what alternatives we had/have, what we can do about this - this is the book.

Aliya is reading Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking
Oh, I loved the book.
The science behind cooking, delicious descriptions, working combinations, colorful soulful illustrations instead of perfect food pictures, and lots of anecdotes with learning points.

Aliya is reading How Much Is Enough? Money and the Good Life
Liked the concept of "basic goods" for every person: health, security, respect, personality, harmony with nature (doubt whether it needed a separate category or such naming), friendship, and leisure.

Other than that it was hard to read due to overcomplexed mix of authors own opinions, them bringing up neoliberal economical theory and (strangely to me) adding Catholic social teaching in between.

Mixed feelings.
