Because while people liked to think that literature was about words, publishing was about numbers. And someone who could take words and translate them into numbers gave royalty a whole new meaning.

Damn. That’s golden.

As if the protective mental barrier between himself and the actual dangers of the world had slipped, leaving him exposed. As if anything could happen now.

This is so real. When Izzy died, reality opened its doors. People I loved—children, even—could get sick and not get better. That had seemed impossible before.

That chapter was so perfect on so many levels, personal and otherwise, I found myself crying at the end—suddenly and with the certainty that it wasn’t just the story, but the reflection of my own life in it.

I am LOVING this book.

Knowing Liko’s sole goal in life right now as putting as many minutes as possible between him and Kyle‘s death and hopefully, someday, enough minutes would have accumulated to make killing himself less of an option.

Ooh I think I know. So rich and twisty but still real people.

I love SK. He is my literary hero for building full, red-blooded human beings that feel so real that you believe the unreal circumstances he puts them in. But god, in early works he throws the N word around like confetti (always by the bad guys but still it makes my spine curl) and women are usually written…not well. To quote Monty Python he got better! (Dolores Claiborne is a masterpiece) but big yikes for 1979

Interrupting Owen Meany to read this because I cannot wait to watch the movie and wanted a refresher since it’s been a minute. This is one of my favorite SK short stories. But woof, it is a teeny bit dated, a whole lot corny, but still has a lot of fabulous tension and suspense.

Fifth? Sixth reread? As my review states, this books sits at the very top shelf of my personal bookshelf. My million star read and coming back to it is like eating a bowl of macaroni and cheese or putting on a warm, cozy sweater on a cold day. I adore it with all of my heart and soul and falling back into the words is like coming home.

IDK. He’s obviously brilliant and I’m sure it’s worthy of its accolades but I’m suddenly starting to lose my appetite for reading about economics. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow night.

I’m not sure what this weirdness is all about but I’m intrigued and fairly sure it’s going somewhere. This book didn’t win the Pulitzer for nothing.
