I am already impressed and I have only read ch. 1. the narrator's own admission of wonkiness, and 'not good work' endears the reader towards their cause and to empathize. For me it creates an ethos of the character that is of high esteem. One more quote from this chaper I am dropping in the quotes section.

“There would always be wars, that they were as easy to stop as glaciers. I believe that, too. And even if wars didn’t keep coming like glaciers, there would still be plain old death.” - pg. 4

“Her words formed themselves, her hands clasped themselves, involuntarily, just as her pen had written of its own accord. It was not Orlando who spoke, but the spirit of an age.”- 146
