It's hard to believe, but Dinniman is amazingly good at shifting on a dime from being drenched in monster entrails to extremely effective pathos.

These books are like crack. Not that I know what crack is like, of course, but I've heard.

As usual, Abercrombie's dialogue is sharp as a knife.

Well. That was... Lame. No other word.

There are moments when Abercrombie's gift for dialogue are in full display in this book, but I am finding it a slog nevertheless.

I actually got to this point yesterday. I have not been disappointed yet by these books.

Dinniman *gets it*. These books are sooo good.

It's a bit unrealistic. I mean, who actually uses their scrolls and potions? They should be hoarding everything.

Started this two days ago. It's pretty good, at least so far.

Finally done with WoT and picking this back up. Remembering why I love Abercrombie. No one talks like this in real life, but who cares?

Why am I crying for *that* guy? He was a knob.

The Mat parts I like, but the rest I just want to be done with.

How long is Perrin going to be fantasying so hard? Ain't nobody ever fantasyed as hard as he is fantasying. It's like fantasy calvinball -- the rules cannot stay the same once. And I hate to say that it kinda ruins the effect. Funny that it was written by Sanderson, the prophet of hard magic systems.

This whole, "bubbles of evil" thing is just really dumb. Not enough to ruin the series, mind, but it's just such a dumb way to advance the plot, or to create extra plot out of thin air, where there was none before. The series is already long enough as it is, why include this silliness?
