I like the jam making. I kinda like the magic. But Kiela makes it hard for me to enjoy it fully.

I was warming up to Kiela, but then she goes back to being rude, like calm down he's just looking for some (bland) seasoning

As a bookworm with some social anxiety, you would think that I would relate to Kiela. But I find her annoying and so far this isn't working out for me.

I'm devastated. Singh did that to me in just two chapters.

First chapter has me emotional. Maybe coz the series is ending next year. I love this series so much.

I'm so endeared and charmed by these two losers (lovingly) falling in love

I feel like I should like it, but I'm not engaged enough with the characters to be fully immersed

I feel like a murder mystery with only 9 suspects should move a bit quicker

Even though 10 years is a long time, it doesn't seem reasonable that in that time, there wasn't more resistance to slavery (especially from the slaves) to the point where it's now accepted when it wasn't a thing before???

This book is taking me so long to get through. It's well written and has great characters but my gosh is it depressing 😭

Non-existent world building so far. Choppy dialogue and descriptions. No idea what the plot is. All we have so far is that there may be a romance but honestly it's not very compelling right now. Will give it a few more chapters to see if it gets better but might dnf

The first quarter moved slower because of world building but the book soon came to life, and the "big picture" started to emerge. A major theme is racism, prejudice, & discrimination. And it annoyed me because underneath it all, it was clear to see, but only the "Gandalf" of the book could see it. Really enjoying the book but hope it doesn't become the usual "Special™️" MCs are only ones that see The Other as people

Lol the fact that humanity's destruction is because of racism is both accurate and depressing

I really like that the book puts into context a lot of the things that happened earlier on in their career.
