O’Farrell’s writing is lovely, but god this book is sad

DFW could write 50 pages on the intricacies of optic cables while his characters install a telephone in someone’s house but it’s hard to see the point of these winding passages sometimes. I actually (so far) enjoyed The Pale King more than I have this novel
