Needed some decent writing to wipe the ugh-inducing slime away, so a brief sojourn into the deceptively easy flowing excellence of Bujold.

Ugh. Its been stubbornness and a vague curiosity about how this story might end thats kept me going. I’m actually quite sick of the sadism normalising and sexist male ego centric style of SF, its so dead, boring, predictable, and perverse (they seem to think its cool) it goes purely on world building. Don’t really care.

A heads up, this is one of those stories that starts within the first few pages with the rape of a woman and soon after the gross brutalisation of one to motivate the male character. Shitty trope Neal.
