Okay, reading this in my kos²an alone give me chill. Like wtf the way King explain the shine, and how Danny must avoid 217 room, hmm. I'm on third floor and my mind already scare of the possibility passing the second floor lol

The only reason I want to read this book is to be able read and enjoy Tolkien's Beren and Luthien TwT

Tbh, there's so many thing to noted and learned from here. The structure of poetry, feet or line, distinct vowel and consonant sound, iambic pentameter, stanza, figurative language, and even more classic and contemporary poetry.

"Perhaps, there may come a day when someone will work out the Laws of Humanics and then be able to predict the broad strokes of the future, and know what might be in store for humanity, and know what to do to make things better, instead of merely speculating. I dream sometimes of founding a mathematical science which I think of as 'Psychohistory', but I know I can't and I fear no one ever will."

Foundation arghhhhhh

"A human being who is functioning is alive. If that life is violently ended by the deliberate action of another human being, we call that 'murder' or 'homicide'. 'Murder' is somehow is the stronger word. To be of human being, one would shout 'Murder!'. It is not at all likely that one would shout 'Homicide!'. It is the more formal word, the less emotional word.'

another apocalyptic AI huh, using humans as hardware synapses to compute information while the AI resides on the thin fabric of so called protal. God what a nightmare fuel to think about... worse than any human farm even could do.

MINDBLOWING WTH!!!

The shrikes from the future, yes. But, it's a tool of some deus ex machina that emerge from humanity to destroy humanity so they can prevent the birth of another deity?!

The Ultimate Intelligence, a God. One part consist of intelligent, that is Ummon (perhaps?), one part consist of empathy (maybe M. Severn?), and one part consist of the void. WTF is it gonna follow the expiation of original sin?

So Weinstraub's answer for Abraham's dilemma was to heard his daughter, and not the voice itself. Interesting, cause it doesn't fully fall on leap of faith, like Kierkegaard's assume. And surprisingly more align with Ishmael's answer in Qur'anic text, instead of biblical.

"In the end—when all else is dust—loyalty to those we love is all we can carry with us to the grave. Faith—true faith—was trusting in that love."

The stake kinda low, but the scene with Egwene and her trial is heartbreaking. It's sad that Rand saw his life with Egwene in other universe, and so does Egwene too. But at the same time each universe they can't stop the tragedy that would befall upon them.

Omg I love it so much lmao. This time WoT really developed the political aspect of the world development. And the way Rand playing the outland lord is so funny and interesting to read. Daes Da'emar, the Great Game, as if the Game of Thrones inspired from this bit and Dune lol.

My God, that Weintraub's tale, or the scholar tale, is very depressing. I can't imagine the pain to relive such a life, it almost felt like a hellish experience... I need a break after this sksk.

So, the "canto" in Hyperion Cantos refers to the same concept as the "canto" in Dante's poem, right? Hmm, interesting choice to name the series after a poetic structure.

Andrew sighed. "I think ... it's because everything wrecks me. Everything. I'm so freaked out all the time and there's no reason, just my brain imploding on itself. But monsters are something we can kill, and I think I like that." He let out a flat laugh. "My brain is so broken".

I'm gonna admit that this is a hard book to read for me? The aimless ramble about the authors life is provoking on it self, but sometimes I quite don't get what he meant because the use of many MANY metaphors :(

Just finished Ainulindalë and Valaquenta, and I would say the myth creation and the pantheon of Ainur really fascinating for me. Well it's more like abrahamic myth, aside from the valar which more align with the pagan gods? I just like how different and active Eru was compared with other One God such as Mana and Azathoth in other fiction that I had read.

2nd Stories: The Golden Apple of Eternal Desire

Quite interesting story of two young men with their pursuits of beauty young womans. They play a game to be intimate and venture into erotic yet brief journey with the womans. I found the narrator more likeable in here, since he more reflective about their journey. They entagled in perpetual journey of desire with youthfulness.

1st Story: No One Will Laugg

I found this story had a sense of cynical view especially how the narrator used lies to ease and avoid his problem with other people that seem unworthy for him, that is Mr. Zaturecky and Klara. I think this story should be read with a mind of cynical thought to enjoy. The main message that Kundera want is "Be honest and don't lie, because a man who lies can't be respected by any woman".

This book explored about pain and resentment toward being born and exist in a way that made me feel empty..

I wonder how Han Kang's life experience reflect within her books, cause it's so lonely and emanated pain.
