It took a while to get into this book. His childhood was miserable. About the time he meets someone who can help him and there a glimmer of light, it's quickly extinguished. I know at some point this boy's life has to turn around because it's the author's memoir about his childhood, but dang if this story isn't bleak and depressing as hell.

This is a very dreary read..... The father drinks away any money he earns or manages to get as a hand out and children die..... Pretty much the idea of his childhood so far. The parents are train wrecks that shouldn't be parents, yet they continuously have more and more kids.

This feels like a book I'm going to need to power through so I can finish a book challenge prompt. I added it to my TBR list solely because it fit a difficult prompt and I'm hoping I can finish it so I can check it as done.

This book feels like an author trying to be someone who he is not. This may be coming from what Ive heard about the author (fast paced thriller writer). This is definitely not that! This is very slow paced and no real action. It is like it is supposed to be a character driven novel, without there being any real character development. It feels like The Liar without any real emotion, besides frequent deaths driving it.

How I feel about this book- If this book were a movie, I would put it on and then spend the entire time scrolling through my phone while listening to it play in the background. While interesting enough to keep reading, it fails to deliver the punch needed to really become invested in the story. The emotion just isn't pulling through and making me invested in the story.

I found this book highly recommended online. I have never heard of this crime or the You Tube channels, vlogs, podcasts, etc. After the first night of reading I had to look it up online because I had no idea what I was getting myself into...... Wow, I cannot believe that none of this is ringing any bells of hearing about it in the news.

Not what I was expecting, but it is keeping me reading. I still have no idea where they are going with this story, but I know it is going to be sinister.

From what I've seen of Reese in movies and in interviews through the years this definitely does not feel like something she co-wrote.

This book is very difficult to pick back up where you left off. There is so much jumping in time and between different storylines that it's difficult to keep them all straight especially in the beginning. The jumping around also makes it difficult to really get to know the different versions of the characters and care about them. The story is a neat idea but it's just not working for me.

For some reason this story just isn't grabbing me. I wouldn't call the book bad, but I cannot say I like it either. I feel very "meh"about it.
