First of all, it’s TAME, not domesticated, and second of all, NO, YOU DO NOT GET A TAME MOOSE FROM FEEDING IT A COUPLE CARROTS.

She sees a “bear” and jumps into his arms… he makes fun of her because it’s not a bear, it’s their pet moose bullwinkle, and everyone knows moose are so much less dangerous than bears…


I’m about to DNF this book on that alone. Moose are TERRIFYING. Maybe they won’t hurt you 99% of the time, but you still treat them with respect, and stay out of their space.

I was enjoying it until he started talking about his alter ego. Then it started to get weird

It just got interesting somewhere between 10-20%

The book is present tense, and that frequently pulls me out of it when there are awkward sentences

Starting to pick up, but still a little slow

“They mostly stick to the wilds.”

He explained that the wilds were the untamed lands of his world. Mostly forests, swamps, and mountains.

“As the name implies, it’s not a place for a picnic.”


What? What? That’s obvious? And it could have just been dialog???

20% in and things are starting to get interesting

I just reread Caraval for the second time (the first was over five years ago) and I enjoyed it way more than the first time I read it, and I was really excited to start the second. I’m not super hooked. Maybe it’s because I’m reading the physical edition instead of an audiobook… I’m definitely debating getting the audiobook, but I hate to use a credit when I’m already a third done!

Almost done, and it’s really dragging. I’m not sure if I care about the characters or not 😬😬

It’s definitely different than what I typically read, but I was really enjoying it… until now
