I'm struggling with the protagonist's overreliance on physiognomy and racial theories, and with his creepy descriptions of the bodies of the girls in his charge once he starts at the school... We are meant to utterly dislike him, right? What a creep.

Suffice to say I am not enjoying this book so far.

I tend to read fast, sometimes too fast for my own good, but I make efforts to slow down when things get interesting. I fear I might have finished this in a next couple of hours and nothing in particular will have grabbed my attention.
