I’m gonna be real I don’t remember how I feel about dr John but this time around I don’t like him I don’t like him at all.

since my mom's birthday is this month i thought why not reread a book we both love

before the book idgaf how ppl came here, whether it was legally or illegally. while reading this i doubly don't give a fuck how ppl come here & i personally think ppl who do give a fuck should take a look at their family tree & tell me if their bitch ass ancestors came here legally (spoiler alert prbly not).

rly excited to read this, i figured spring into summer would be a good time bc i feel like the original was a summer reading type of book (though i've never read it) & i also love reimagining of classics, esp from a different pov.

while i found carole pretentious & annoying at times on rhony but like i could never hate her, she just has a way with things

so it's funny i like Ivan & i enjoy his chapters but i don't care for Peter but i would say i like his chapters a little bit more, lol.

i just have some questions. we've already reached the conclusion to several different conflicts at the point yet i still have less than 200 pages to go to finish this fucking book, what more could there be? how is that bc of said conflicts it feels like things are happening yet also not happening? like i'm dumb & don't pick up on social cues but jesus how could she not pick up that he likes her? i just.

does the author not take anything seriously? does every other sentence have to be some quirky bullshit? can i get at least one fucking paragraph that actually moves the plot along & isn't the author trying to be funny or witty? can the author make it so i don't go ohhhhhh so not like other girls of her every fucking time the fmc does or says anything? CAN I PLEASE!

decided to read this bc the guy on the cover looks kinda cute (don't judge me) but the fact that i was not forewarned that this was written in first person? already 1 star off ms hazelwood. also no warning on peak cringe dialogue trying to appeal to millenials? another star gone. but that's neither here nor there i will be finishing this bc some authors need to be humbled by a review of less than 2 stars.
