I KNEW IT. The second there was mention of seraphim I just knew they had to be the same seraphim from the DoS&B books & I’m feeling very gratified right now by the way things are connecting (especially given the way DoG&M ended!).

I've only heard good things about this book, but I didn't really expect much going into it. I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. I really didn't think it'd get me.

Aside from being incredibly boring, my main gripe with this book rn is that according to the in-universe chronology this takes place 2.5-3 years after the end of Ruin & Rising, but the way the characters talk about those events (even the events of the Six of Crows duology) it really feels like it’s been 15-20 years and that is a very significant difference.

I like most things in this book so far BUT it’s HELLA fat-phobic & that’s not ok. Virtually all of the villainous men so far have been gratuitously shamed for being fat.

I’m reading along with the audiobook & it’s really speeding things up!

I’ve been listening to this on audiobook & it’s very insightful & smart.

I’m not sure I can take much more oppressive sadness from this book. It’s a real bummer at this point.

So excited to have fewer than 100 pages between me & Muse of Nightmares!

I’m rereading this in preparation for Muse of Nightmares & I simultaneously want to speed through it so I can find out what happens in the sequel and also take my time to savour Taylor’s gorgeous prose.

Really not fond of the light this book paints Helen of Troy under. God forbid women (cousins!) hold each other in high esteem.

Not sure if I like this yet. It seems very meandering & the main character still has very little by way of personally imo.

Everyone I love is dead & I’m not okay.

I’ve learnt a few cool facts so far but a lot of this book has been really boring. The fashion chapter was an actual joke.

This is a pretty quick read which is what I was looking for, but it’s nowhere near as good as Walton’s debut.

This book is taking FOREVER to get through but it’s also really beautiful & I love Shefali & Shizuka so much so I’m conflicted.

So far I've loved all but two of these stories, which is IMPRESSIVE for an anthology.

I’d be enjoying this so much more if it weren’t for the dreadful romances.

I don’t really like any of these characters but I’m not mad about it. Hopefully they’ll experience a good amount of growth in the second half of the book/the rest of the series.

In a very cute coincidence, this book begins on September 1st & I am starting to read it on September 1st!

I really want to love this book as much as The Abyss Surrounds Us but I have no idea what’s going on.

I started reading this on the bus ride to work this morning & I have no idea what’s going on. I think I’m gonna need to reread the first two books.
