Paul Myers is on page 100 of 328 of The Great Delusion: Liberal Dreams and International Realities (Henry L. Stimson Lectures)
Fascinating and quite clear and easy to understand for a foreign affairs book.

This may be one of the great novels to come out of the Iraqi war era. It is not a war novel that "bears witness" to the depravity of combat but rather a pastiche that tells why the war the Washington government fought was a failure.

FDR had a wider vision of where he wanted to take the US which led to his decision to run for a third term. A powerful ego and ambition tied to very lofty goals hidden behind a folksy manner and a very indirect approach to strategy and governance.

About 20 percent in of this sharply observed and geometrically drawn point of view. I understand the predicament--a love affair in England has gone awry and the woman protagonist is in some form of exile--but just what the central dilemma is remains unclear.

Very interesting overview of Paris during the Nazi occupation with some aspects I had not read about before. Very interestingly written.

An interesting psychological tale so far about what is going on inside the head of the dumped ex-wife and the new young wife. Is the husband some sort of serial wife predator, gobbling up one after another.

The scenes about the high-end pre-school in Manhattan are a first-class satirical send-up. Very amusing.

Very good start because it puts in a short and succinct space the steps Roosevelt took before Pearl Harbor to support Britain and later Russia in the war against Nazi Germany.
