really nice sized book for holding. very ergonomically satisfying

i don’t hate this book and she’s got some insightful stuff to say. BUT as a life coach she’s at times out of her depth. she recognises that body image issues can be covering up/ an attempt to cope with deeper issues but is not trauma-informed and doesn’t have skills to recognize that taking away someone’s primary coping mechanism without trauma processing can be dangerous

i’m livid. he identifies “obesity” as an eating disorder. that’s not an eating disorder, it’s a medicalised fatphobic description of a body. eating disorders are not body types!!!! eating disorders are about thoughts and behaviors. fuck you john bradshaw

i’m absolutely hating every page. flicked to the back to read about the author and he studied for the Roman Catholic priesthood which fully checks out because this book has been seeped with christian ideology. i wanted an explanation for what so-called healthy shame is and so far i have not received that. what he cites as healthy shame is to me guilt/ humility/ not shame. i’ll push through bc i’m stubborn
