I must admit that after 46 Trollope novels, I am heartily sick of young noblemen who get into enormous debt and expect others to bear the responsibility. Trollope rightly shows what a vice this is—these men have no thought for others.

I’m enjoying this so much. So many delightful literary details and Oxford names, many of which I am familiar with after many years of reading Brit lit and nonfiction. He’s also self-deprecating in such a funny way at the same time as describing knowing people like Hugo Dyson and W.H. Auden.

I love his descriptions of Oxford characters, like Merton’s H.W. Garrod. They are so eccentric. 😂

I loved Julie Summers’ book on the Women’s Institute so looking forward to this! Thank you ILL!

Such a fascinating page on 57 and what you would have had to be able to remember for the WWI to take place.
