Jack is reading A Little History of the World (Little Histories)
This sometimes dry book is quite comprehensive. It was the definitive history for a time based on what I've read about the book. I read it with the idea that it it is a history book and a historical cultural reference because it is evident it was writtten during a specific time from a specific cultural perspective. A very worthwhile read especially when compare to new history books that aren't as Anglo Euro.

Jack is reading Art-Write: The Writing Guide for Visual Artists
I thought it was a book about writing about art from a critical view but it's a book about writing about your own art and creating articles, personal statements that hone your vision and teaches how to describe that vision in a way that relates to everyone else and specific groups of people like gallery owners, buyers, etc. the book is well written and the advice is spot on. Well worth it.

Jack is finished with Brandwashed: Tricks Companies Use to Manipulate Our Minds and Persuade Us to Buy
The author writes sensationally and is overwrought but delivers good information about the marketing world and builds a solid case of why consumers should always have a good level of distrust for anything that smacks of advertising, publicity, advertorial. Much of it won't be new for anyone with an awareness of the industry but may be reminded we need to keep our eyes open.
