Hi all,

I took a long hiatus from the book world. Now that life has settled down a bit I feel like reading again.

I hope all is well with my goodreads friends. :)

I am reading this for the Book Riot Challenge and doing so happily.

This writing is bold and thoughtful. I rarely see people employ empathy in their writing and in his case the people he is treating this way is his own family.

Despite the circumstances or maybe because of them everything seems to have turned out okay for the author. He owns it and lets it all hang out there. How refreshing it is to be honest!

I picked this one on a whim because it was on a library list incoming books.

I applaud the translator, this story is so easy to read I just read half the book in one sitting.

I would recommend it to anyone who is down on their luck and wondering if they should get back up and try again.

I am so close to the end but soo sleepy.

"...she was lonely and afraid and she saw across her shining dinner table a swarthy sodden stranger disintegration under her eyes."

Okay maybe now I can see why people re-read this book.

I cannot believe how close I am to the end of this book after all this time!

She is totally going to (expletive) this up.
