I think I just got to the first 'proposal' if we're mapping this onto Pride and Prejudice and holy discomfort, did that come out of horny left field. >.< I could still DNF or skim to find out a plot point. But yeesh, this is rough.

This is light on the P&P and bogged down with backstory breaks. I may DNF...or skim to find out what happens with one of the main plot points. There are so many plot points.

I think this is gonna unlock things that have been blocking me for...years.

The intrigue is building but I keep having thoughts of other fantasy-in-real-life books that I've read recently and having to remember that this is a different book. Again, a me problem.

I’ve restarted several times in the first 50 pages because for some reason the story just isn’t sticking.

This book was so ridiculous it was like a drug-addled Fast and Furious version of a crime novel. So if you're in a mood to let the unbelievable slide...you might enjoy this. The MC makes every bad decision but in this universe...does it matter? Also, male authors' need to detail when their characters have to go to the bathroom should be studied.

I really like Xavier and Nora.

This man is doing everything wrong. He should be dead or in jail already instead of just beat up. I’d DNF but I’m as committed to the bit as he is at this point.

This feels weirdly hubristic and confusingly profoundly confusing. Where are we going and why are we taking so long to get there?

I spoiled one plot point for myself by accident but I just got to another one that had me flaily-armed in distressed surprise. Darren! No!

Dude should quit but I get why he isn't. Need can drive you to stuff down your discomfort and better notions.
