Look, Babe Ruth would not have been on a sandlot baseball kid’s top of the list that early. For the era we’re talking Honus Wagner, Nap Lajoie, Ty Cobb, Home Run Baker, Shoeless Joe Jackson, Tris Speaker. If a pitcher (what Babe was at this time) then Christy Mathewson or (especially for a midwestern kid) Mordecai Brown or (still) Cy Young or Walter Johnson.

Again, first read these when they first came out way back when and it has been enjoyable re-reading them.

Hadn’t ever re read this series since the original publication. But felt like diving back in at the beginning after reading the latest book Radiant Star.
