Did not know the genres of this book. Knew pretty much nothing, going into it. Really liked part 1 but am still not feeling part 2.

The start was rough, but the academy-school chapters are more interesting and entertaining.

This is the second time this week SJM has given me a sentence like that (about eye contact, too) that makes no sense.

I managed a few more hours of audio yesterday, but my god does the book DRAG in the last quarter. I'll probably finish it soon, but I am not looking forward to it. Note to self, maybe it'll be four stars this time.

Haven't listened since last night, but the progress is still going steady.

Started it earlier today, hoping it would work better for taking my mind off of certain things. It is not exactly doing what I expected, but I don't hate it? Am really wondering how it will end.

It is going remarkably faster to get into this book than I remembered. As I recall, it starts dragging, possibly around the middle. But it has not yet. A classic, for many reasons.
The audiobook is 47 hours long. I am in for a long long read.

I started this one at midnight, and decided to stop between chapters. Was not aware until just now that I had already listened to 50% of it. It is nice and chill, and a good one to take chapter by chapter.

I read up until midnight last night, but I keep taking breaks from this. It's depressing.

It was around chapter 14 or 15 that I fell asleep without a timer, and accidentally listened through 6 more hours. Took a break from the book before rewinding and going chapter by chapter to try to find where I last remember being. Was it 34%? Not sure, yet. So far, I still recall bits and pieces of what I'm hearing, so I might have been further in.

it's been a few weeks since I reached 90% but I dunno when, I have some catching up on GR to do

Big fan of the Monte Cristo retelling, but very underwhelmed on certain aspects of the word-building.

This update (59%) was supposed to be added on July 26th, when I stopped reading again. Dunno yet if I'm shelving it in DNF or Read. The latter would depend on if I ever manage to get back into it again.

Reached 31% on the 16th of July, have been on hold/hiatus since then. I have issues with where I think we might end up; plus these are Very Long Books.

Skipped through ch25-38 and continued from there, where I remember even less. Last time I quit before this part, I think. Too many boring tropes and little mistakes. Maybe if I skip through some chunks, I can get closer to finishing it? Although I am having some vague memories about reaching a whole 80%, which seem inaccurate if correct. Is that an oxymoron?

Third re-read. Started around 3am last night, and I plan on stopping even sooner than the previous two times. Probably before 40%. I just really really like the first part, with lawyers and sneaky Slytherins taking over. I want more of THAT, not the super!Harry or Speshul Majics that comes later. I want COMPETENCE!

I can't figure out if I hate or love the plot. But this is surely going in the Evil Author shelf. Screw Rob for taking out my fav.

Ye gods. these books are so long and at times slow. (Not bad, though.) My year of speeding through audio has certainly slowed down after I started these, that's for sure.

Honestly, I feel like adding a tag/shelf called "competent kidnappees" for these books. Also, I was around 50% in when I started listening again an hour or so ago, and might finish this today if I keep listening.

I just want some nice re-reading vibes and I do love me some Murderbot. Though I prefer the first two novellas.
