Oh look. Another author that breaks emmersion because they either cannot calculate basic math or doesn't understand scale. The entire world building doesn't work.

Not taking a scalable offensive spell for a weak curse at low level. Some min/max player. Authors shouldn't make these choices available, if they don't want their main character to become too powerful too soon. Making the MC look like an idiot while at the same time trying to make him come off as savvy player is moronic. Choices matters and now we know that the MC is not a clever min/max player.

Sorry KM, but there's really no suspense in a flashback when you know the outcome. Sentences like "I have to do it or die trying" therefore really doesn't work. The shadow magic idea is novel, though.

Childrens fantasy about the bonded(/forced) love between a man and a dragon. So far it's been about the dragon growing, food, handshakes, and the reputation of the main character - a much better sounding story from before the start of this book.
