HA! Autumn King thinking he's sooo smart trapping Bryce. How did that work out for you?? Also, not as mad with the book now after this last 100 pages. But y'all. Y'all. Lidia aka The Hind? That breakout? That was pure epic. I loved it. Plus Ruhn when he saw Flynn tore at my heart a bit. So Jesiba and who she really is kind of shocked me. Also, looks like Ithan has a new job now. Should be interesting.

I am so on the verge of hating this book. Why is everyone and I mean everyone so unnecessarily evil in this book!!???!! Viper Queen? Hate her. Autumn King? Hate him. It's absurd. At least in TOG, we got SOME levity in there once in a while. This is getting tiring how everyone is so awful all of the time. For f's sake, give me some characterization, some humor, some relief. I don't get why ppl love this book.

The way I am LOVING that we’re back in Prythian!!! Having Nesta and Bryce together is a choice because those are two interesting personalities. But y’all poor Hunt and Ruhn. Meanwhile new favorite character Sigrid. She’s so bossy and it cracks me up. Possible Ithan mate???

Okay. Danika was the WORST best friend ever. I swear everytime we turn around we find out something else major important she never told to Bryce. If I were Bryce, I would be like best friend my ass. But I did enjoy how Bryce outmaneuvered the Autumn King. That was fun.

I keep getting distracted by other books and this one is so entertaining. I don’t think I’ve disliked a single book by this author and frankly I think I’ve rated all of her books five stars. So perhaps a good distraction?

Okay when Ruhn comes back and his roommates are all looking at him super guilty. And he finds out what they stole. Y’all that was fantastic. I love those goofballs. Hunt and Bryce. Yeah. Let’s just say finally. Interesting things happen - besides the obvious. Y’all. I’m still convinced my Hind theory is true. Even more so now.

So we all agree the Astronomer is uber creepy, right? But Ithan is gonna be back for that female mystic. Just watch. Also I think Baxian might be brought into the inner circle. Seems like he's a good guy. Oh!!! And new theory on who Daybright is. I think it's the Hind! Crazy yes but there's clues there, I swear.

Annnddd now I’m back to not trusting Celestina again. I had decided she might be the secret agent since my last update but nope. She’s coming across as shady again. And what the hell with the bone quarter?? Who saw that coming. Also some of the villains in CC are almost comically evil. A little nuance would be nice here.

Feels like a lot of getting pieces into place now. Not a lot of plot moving forward. Although why am I starting to feel sorry for Baxian?? And I'm kind of liking him? I feel like I shouldn't. Meanwhile, sorry do NOT trust Celestina and her offer of friendship. Wolf in sheep's clothing for sure. Also, Ithan is so lost. I need him to figure his crap out. And I increasingly love Ruhn. He's both clueless and capable.

The Cormac surprise floored me! Poor Hunt though. He’s so terrified that history will repeat itself. Also why are her parents suddenly being pains in the asses. They were far better in the first book. Oh and I think I just like Ruhn more and more as these books go on. And can we forever retire the word alphahole from these books?

So I guess in this book, it’s all about let’s throw obstacles at Bryce and Hunt’s happiness. Autumn King and Sabine being their usual asshat selves. So there’s that. I’m already annoyed with this book with the storylines. Oh and new governor. She’s doing that I just want us to work together and be your friend thing. Naturally I don’t trust her.

It wasn’t the plot twist with Hunt that annoyed me so much, but rather the way it felt more like plot device instead of a plot twist. A plot twist should still feel like it was authentic to the characters and this one did not. I looked at what I read and basically said “really”??? Gotta admit this is not my favorite SJM book so far.

So Sabine is a psycho yes but also she needs to be removed from existence posthaste. Ugh hate her so so much. What she did to Hunt and what she said to Bryce? Hate her! Also everything Micah does is making him look more and more guilty. And I think that medwitch is actually the new witch queen. Interesting development.

Okay Sabine is a psycho. Oof. Also things are getting pretty interesting with the whole reveal about what Danika did! Oh and our boy Hunt has it sooo bad for Bryce. That’s cracking me up. But Autumn King and Micah are for sure looking even more suspicious after this latest chapters. I know one of them did it. Just haven’t decided which one.

I love the developing relationship between Bryce and Hunt. The cell phone, him getting hot watching her at the range, his jealousy of Tristan, and sharing his past with her. Love it. Except Hunt needs to get over Shahar if he ever wants to make this work between them. Of course he’s not there yet. In the mystery, some red herrings introduced. But I think I know who did it.

Okay I am shocked by this book! The plot twist, the big revelation has completely thrown me. I thought I saw where this was going but I really didn’t. Also of note, the second book is so much better than the first one. It really is. Can’t wait to see how this ends.

Okay Hunt is funny. I legit laughed out loud when he asked her to keep her curtains open so he could watch the tv show through the window. But y’all, why did Maas write Bryce to act just like Aelin? Aelin earned her subterfuge (trained since 8); Bryce has not. Give us a more original FMC! Feyre was original even. Hmm. Also the alley and Micah? Seems so damn sus!

So a lot happens in the beginning but it’s really a vehicle to drive the plot and create a murder mystery for this book. Gotta be honest murder mystery is not my favorite. And Bryce is coming across super unlikeable. However I am quite intrigued by Hunt. Love the grumpy. Hopefully Bryce gets better.

The way I adore marriage of convenience. Also, Jonah is so many green flags. I know they're rivals and supposed enemies but goodness, he's SUCH a great guy. Also, he has some nervous awkwardness that is so cute.

How did I not know about this book before now!?? I adore it! Both Jonah and Sadie are so incredibly likable. I love the way it’s written - the footnotes in particular are a favorite. The voice, everything. My only problem now is the sleep I should be getting instead of telling myself just one more chapter. The struggle is real y’all.

My TBR game winner for the week from my socials. The description was giving me a Love Hypothesis vibe - and I loved that book - so I’m excited to read this one.

Got the audiobook from libro.fm but I had to order the physical book because I simply cannot listen to the audiobook. The female narrator does this very weird and incredibly distracting weird thing at the end of her words. It’s like she adds an extra syllable. For example saying the word “thinking” and she’ll pronounce it thinkingggg. Ugh.

Soooo we’re learning quite a few things in this book that I would say were suspected but not clear in the last book. At this juncture gojng to say that this book is definitely better than the first. But I also see us hurtling towards a third book at least if my intuition is correct. Oh and 100% towards a love triangle.

Feeling slightly bad that I like Deacon better than Reid. He’s infinitely more entertaining. I think he’s speaking to my love of morally gray MMCs. So far I do actually think this second book is better than the first.

Started off very interesting but now doing the same thing Half City did which is get mired down in small things which do not move the plot forward. But the whole Deacon reintroduction is interesting. He’s definitely not the good guy Reid is but also perhaps has a good (ish) side. Foresee a love triangle perhaps???

I really just love Borte. I swear she’s just like Aelin. Also flipping Darrow decided to have some humanity. Nope still do not like him. And y’all that moment when Aelin showed up to the battle???? Chills! But I can’t talk about the western gate and what happened there. My heart hurts. This book is dragging me through it.

So the whole lock thing happened. But I did totally laugh because Aelin is going to Aelin and she left those ahole gods a parting gift in their world. Loved it! But now she STILL has the Erawan problem. Oof
