Enjoying it very much so far. You’ve got to take it for what it is, & the style it was written in. Great escape from all the hate in the world right now!

I’m only about 1/3 of the way througlh this book, the second of Mr Backman’s I’ve read. The first was Brit-Marie was Here. I really enjoyed that one; but this book is not very engaging to me. Is it because I’m not into sports? Somehow I don’t think so… I understand the dynamics of the male social bonding and the inverse- although thus far it doesn’t seem to have Lord of the Flies overtones.

What an interesting book! I had no idea it would turn out to be historical fiction. I’m really enjoying it.

I decided not to finish when I discovered this wasn’t a biography but a fictionalized work. Not what I’m interested in- I only want actual, fact-based biographies.

The only one of Ms. Hilderbrand’s books I didn’t finish.

Did it occur to anyone else that practically every time Des/Dez spoke that every sentence sounded like a question? That seemed odd to me.
And also, I never could get used to hearing everyone say the name Claira as Clarra. Saying the name like car instead of like care.
Clara sounds like Berra, not Laura.
Every single time the narrator said the name it was distracting to me. 🤷‍♀️
