I'm DNFing this book. The writing is simplistic with minimal sentences, too much foreshadowing that is almost nonstop, and lacks a richness that one would hope for. In all fairness, I am also reading Red Rising with its powerful story and exemplary writing so maybe the difference is more striking to me.

Why reread a book? Sometimes one feels the need to just curl up somewhere and read a book that is familiar yet exciting all at the same time. I can't help but compare the writing to this novel to some of the newer books that are out. Fantastic setting, heart-rending events, and complex yet competent paragraph and sentence structure.

New library hold. I like that you can put in a request for a book months before publication and release. This will be an ebook reading.

An impressive and unique story but may not be for everyone.

What an absolute delight of a book! Plus, the gentle introduction of simple math games and ideas is a great way to show the personalities of the characters.

This is a BIG step back to my long ago past of discovering Sci-Fi and despite it's age, it's still good.

This book has nothing to do with vampires or Forks, WA. and the low reviews on Goodreads might stem from readers disappointment with that fact. Rather it is Sci-Fi, dystopian, and with a thread of right to life throughout the story. I had planned on rereading for the past year and now seems like a good time to do so.

Uh oh. The Atlantic posted an article titled, "America is losing the facts that hold it together." Such a coincidence.

Online book club read and an unusual premise.

When multiple library reservations come up at the same time.

"Saturated with tenderness, achingly real, and profoundly moving" is just one description of this story. It varies from bare moments of events to heartbreaking remembrances of those who died. Geez.... its quietly good.

Unusual beginning that has caught my attention

Translation is decent but a bit choppy at times. The story is unusual.

Audio book. If I had a physical copy I'd skip the chapters about the past (I think I know where that story line is going) and just read the present day.

Just when I think "yawn" just not into it, the story shifts and I'm suddenly awake.
