This book is so incredibly stupid. And also perfect for reading by the pool in October. I can’t quite explain how much this actively makes me cringe and yet is so fun.

I'm in such a grumpy reading slump and nothing is sticking. This is the worst feeling. Send me some good book vibes.

This is a bit slow in the middle.

No idea where this is going yet. This was marketed as kind of a thriller but definitely more literary suspense. Mostly just following a brand new mom with a baby named Holden who is paranoid about all the dangerous of the world and how close they are to hurting her child. That is a particular brand of postpartum to which I HARD RELATE. 😉

Hmmm…I little bit don’t care about anything going on and there is a lot of Sims talk (which I REALLY don’t care about.) But it’s also short…maybe I’ll just finish. TBD. I’m finding myself not caring to pick this up and doomscroll instead. Always a sign.

Is this novel perfect? I wasn’t even sure I’d like it, and now I’m wondering if it will be the best book I’ve read all year. Can’t wait to see how we land the plane here.

Ok it is so weird that they keep using words to describe things and then defining them in the same sentence as if the reader couldn’t look it up if they didn’t know what it meant. Did this have an editor? This is my most bizarre reading experience so far this year. This book is…not good. But we’ve gone this far, so…

So far this book is like a list of 100 random characters with overly detailed name dropping descriptions that feel very YA. I’m trying to enjoy the impending back to school vibe of it all but so far it’s just cringey.
