I finished chapter 1. Skimmed A LOT. Idk if it’s because it was wordy or because I decided to read while I was super tired. We’ll see how the rest goes.

There’s something about the writing style I’m not liking. It’s too wordy…

Almost halfway through and Shelby is still on my nerves.

The first half was SLOW but sweet (and m still kind of in my reading slump so that took forever to read). Chapters 17 & 18 were a little more interesting.

Okay I’ve decided to DNF it. I just finished chapter 9 and I’m just not interested in seeing how it ends. The story doesn’t seem cohesive to me and it’s hard to read. The main character also doesn’t make any sense. How are you the daughter of a mafia leader and can’t defend yourself? She hated the family business in the beginning but 8 months later she’s running it? This story just wasn’t for me.

I really might have to DNF this…I usually try not to but I’m not even a little bit curious as to how this ends.

So 8 months have gone by and she’s a completely different person?

Is it just me, or was most of chapter 7 unnecessary?

Okay. I get it now. I forgot that he saw someone who he THOUGHT was Maria.

I’m a little confused here. Gareth wrote to his aunt that he’d marry Maria. The message his aunt gets says he met her at the bonnet shop. And technically they did meet there, but neither one of them knows it. So the aunt’s letter makes no sense?????

Not part of the story but I was listening to The Good Parts by Andy Grammer and it reminded me of the scene in the basement and their first (real) date. This song is so perfect for them.
