If this wasn’t a Newbery winner, I’d DNF it. I’m not into biblical era stories, especially those that are so clearly trying to fit into biblical stories. And the narrator is rather boring, not quite monotone, but not really distinguishing characters.

I love Claudia Gray’s Star Wars books and Firebird trilogy, and am intrigued by the premise of this book. BUT Noemi’s religious-ness is annoying me.
