Ok, now there’s a mention of an iPod but it sounded off. And a charging station! Yet the girl doesn’t know her friend’s number, but thinks it’s listed! So they tried to update it, yet the whole thing with girls’ not being expected to need college and get married right away and the issues of women working do clearly date it.

So this book is from 1979, yet a character just pulled a ringing cell phone out of a bag. But then clutched the receiver. 🤦🏼‍♀️ then she flipped her phone shut. So it’s a flip phone. Did they try to update it?
