they used to release sitcoms on paper and called em books. ground zero for leave it to beaver-type troublemaking and sentimentality.

very apparent from the prose that he was a reporter, lol. the audiobook really drives it home, how it sounds like an old timey radio play.

some really masterful prose, but unfortunately it’s all in service of mostly low stakes hijinks. looking forward to huck finn.

erm….. well it makes for a light audiobook listen

reminds me of the phoenix project: more of a corollary than, say, a story. does not teach for the divine; feels very much earthbound. idk i’ve been stuck with the heady shit, guess i’ll keep going

so, i did need to watch an explainer immediately after reading. i like to think i've got a pretty good visual sense, but i think some of the absurd elements make more immediate sense when seen on-stage. also helps the comedy come across.

these sex scenes are the equivalent of a thirteen year old crudely drawing himself with rippling abs next to a cutout of megan fox

some good arguments, some bad.

most frustratingly, the author ascribes bad faith to basically everything google does, like someone who takes “no ethical consumption under capitalism” as a slogan meaning “don’t consume anything ever or you’re a bad person.”

far be it from me to jump to google’s defense - i stopped using google services years ago - but it’s just frustrating to see.

definitely, like, 60% of this book could have been cut. this could have been a blog post and, in fact, it was.

I've been able to skim this faster than a manga marketed to children and I could still perfectly glean what it's trying to say. that's not to say I won't use the advice though.
