i initially thought this book would motivate me to try and find myself on a weeks-long hike, but now i’m thinking just a week would be better. or maybe just reading this instead

why do parts of this book read like they were dreamt up by a middle schooler lol

these sex scenes are the equivalent of a thirteen year old crudely drawing himself with rippling abs next to a cutout of megan fox

this is such a dude book lmaooo

some good arguments, some bad.

most frustratingly, the author ascribes bad faith to basically everything google does, like someone who takes “no ethical consumption under capitalism” as a slogan meaning “don’t consume anything ever or you’re a bad person.”

far be it from me to jump to google’s defense - i stopped using google services years ago - but it’s just frustrating to see.

if you heard all 44:44 of the microphones’ “microphones in 2020” and thought, “wow i wish this prose was even more knotty and focused even more on nature and life or whatever” then boy do i have a book for you

definitely, like, 60% of this book could have been cut. this could have been a blog post and, in fact, it was.

I've been able to skim this faster than a manga marketed to children and I could still perfectly glean what it's trying to say. that's not to say I won't use the advice though.

Ugh. Everything I wish would be shown is just told, and everything I want explained is just not. It's like one of those board games that come in a huge box: one person is off explaining in unnecessarily thorough detail the intricate rules and structures of the game, while you'd rather have them shut up, set the rules, and just play.

We'll see how the rest of this goes.
