Since I just finished Picture of Dorian Gray, figured this was a good time to jump into The Dorians.

There aren’t a whole lot of references to its namesake so far.

I’m enjoying it. It started a little slow but the premise is intriguing.

Yeah I’ve forgiven Mr McMurtry a lot of these.

Not this one though.

I very much do not like Elmira.

I do sort of wonder if it helps to be a fan of Roy’s to enjoy this? I’ve never read any of her other work, and while I appreciate the writing, I do find myself somewhat bored.

I want to love this collection so bad and I feel like I have no idea what’s going on. lol

Only like 10 pages in and love it so much already. I desperately needed a good one. 2026 reading has been rough.

Not sure if it’s exactly what I expected, maybe a little more mystery than horror, but still a good time.

What in the world are the other 150 pages about?!

It feels much more Harlan Cobden then Reese Witherspoon. I have to wonder why this partnership was selected instead of like a Lucy Foley or a Ruth Ware or something.

Feels kind of James Pattersonish. No soul. No substance.

Less a biography of Marlowe and more an analysis of his plays through an analysis of the little we know of his life. Interesting, but I guess it helps if you’ve read the plays. 😂 (which I plan to do, but haven’t yet)

In 7 pages this man has painted a more vivid picture of 16th century England than any history class I’ve ever taken.

And oof, what a terrifying place. 😳

Laughing hysterically over here only to look at all the reviews and read that I must have a deeply unpleasant personality.
