I didn't read this book back in 2017 because I'd heard some very negative things, but I decided to give it a go after I quite liked a Sorcery of Thorns.

1. Yes, the love interest kidnaps her for a brief period at the start.
2. Why is the main charter 17? It would just make way more sense for her to be 25 and also make the weird fair one age difference less bad cause at least she'd be an adult.

Well damn this is reallyyy slow-burn. There's only been a kiss-so-we-don't-get-caught-scene, but at least they finally like eachother.

Already absolutely love this. Kadou is a sweetheart but his anxiety is making him make some questionable decisions. He is very relatable but also making me anxious.

I thought she was getting better, but God no definitely an idiot. Right now I'm just here for the Dragon and the Woods. At least they are interesting.

The main character is really annoying me right now and I can't exactly pin point why. Maybe because she's an idiot? She makes dumb assumptions and her "clumsiness" feels like a humble-brag?

This book is absolutely iconic

Honestly, who thought it was a good idea to name the main character Jess and then name her daughter Juno and her mother Jamie. Took me way too long not to be confused each time...

Morals are just not a thing in this book 😂 and she's all like "You can't help who you love" and giggling about Stockholm syndrome. And still - still - I'm enjoying myself...

Currently questioning my sanity. Have the exams fried my brain?

Don't get me wrong, it's a good book, but damn it's unpleasant and uncomfortable. I've had to put it down a few times.

Also, apparently, Dad doesn't want to have Celtic decent, because he doesn't like the Irish???

This book is making me increasingly uncomfortable, but all I can think about right now is Silvie's dad taking a DNA test and not having any connection whatsoever to Celts or anyone else you could consider somewhat Ancient Britons
