You literally should have just made this a General Fiction book. This is not a mystery, it’s a critique of social media under the veil of fiction. Which is fine, but it doesn’t lend itself to the pacing of a mystery.

I take it back, it also rips into True Crime podcasters too, which I love to see.

2 things right, then. But this book is still boring af and that playlist is still cringe.

There’s one (1) thing this book is doing well, and that’s capturing what absolute nightmares “Mom-fluencers” are. Erin should be in fucking prison.

My book flopped shut. Upon opening it again, I found a spotify playlist in the back full of Taylor Swift songs, as well as a handful of other Extremely Predictable Artists.

Kate was, and I quote, looking "bra-less, standing firm, and looking fabulously slutty". This comes on the heels of the author encouraging the audience to go to a particular episode and pause on that scene, after calling her out for having a boob job.

Author: Are you trying to be an ass? Because this is the definition of being an ass.

Wow. Didn't even coach it in terms of taking money from exploiting the kids, just came right out and shamed Kate for having a boob job.

Author: Did you think for even five hot seconds how this might play to your audience?

Yeah, no, sorry, that doesn't wash. The paparazzi's entire existence is based on invading the privacy of others and overstepping boundaries. Just because you found a couple that were nice enough to Jon to get close to the kids doesn't change the fact that their ENTIRE profession is built on exploitation. You don't get to wash that away while laying into Kate for every single infraction.

A few of those highlighted rules seem extremely reasonable, tbh. This is a camera crew in a house with babies, so yeah, close the door every single time. And yeah, when you're in my house, you ASK before you use my tools and equipment. I don't want my shit disappearing because you took it and set it down somewhere else without thinking.

And how would you being a fan make you, a stranger, snapping a picture of her any less creepy, annoying, or intrusive to her?

Kate Gosselin is a nightmare, but the author's obvious bias and clear attempts at demonizing her are not winning him points with me.

So one of the twins is clearly "starved for parental affection" and is shocked than an adult would care about her poetry... But that only reflects Kate's parenting, not Jon's?

Oh, okay, so everyone else is an ass for not reporting Kate for abuse, but you're sure your good buddy Jon has an excellent reason for not doing so, right? It doesn't matter if it's hard to prove, you're still obligated to report.

Christ, no wonder Kate tried to sue this book out of existence. This is damning.

I sincerely hope I’m not about to read a book that takes a million tiny, petty shots at Trump when it’s supposed to be talking about cryptocurrency and fraud.
