Positives : clichéd ship encounter but with an aguara
Negatives: clichéd protagonist falling for the antagonist's silly little trickery, a couple of times. While manhandling lesser foes, nonetheless.

There's still some meat left in the book to explore..

The plot thickens :3 love how Geralt is nowhere near the strongest characters in the series but holds his own (whether with brawn or with intrigue).

I like Aomame so far, she lives an interesting life to put it lightly. Her character has seen much in the world and knows what it wants.
Tengo sounds like a typical Murakami protagonist, in fact I feel some of Murakami's writing pattern is fictionized for Tengo.

There's some mystery in the air, let's see where it leads

The characters' motives I understand and the book gives cultural context of its world wherever needed. Good stuff

This book has troubles setting up interpersonal relationships, which it's balancing with its Japanese fantasy world building. There is some metaphor at play in every chapter, so I'm looking forward to the last one.

Rereading it after finishing A Wild Sheep Chase.
The narrator picks his salty mood right where he left off in the last book. All references and symbolism makes sense to me which I probably skipped past in the last read.
The narration, the knots, the flow, narrator's idle thoughts, and the brewing comfortimacy with receptionist is unfolding neatly. Looking forward to the rest 5/5
